How to Join Programs at GenSpace

GenSpace offers two types of programs:


Flexible Classes: No commitment required
  • Flexible classes are great for those who prefer more flexibility, can’t commit to a regular schedule, or are just looking for extra programs. These sessions vary week to week and are open to anyone who wants to drop in.
  • Classes with limited seating will be indicated with the “pen + paper” symbol. Seated fitness classes will be indicated with the “chair” symbol.
  • How To Join: Please sign up at the front desk, email us at [email protected], or give us a call at (424) 407 4023.
Recurring Classes: Require commitment for one month
  • Held twice a week for 1 month. Designed for consistency and skill-building.

  • How to Join: Complete the class preference survey on the 3rd week every month. You’ll receive your class assignments prior to the new month.

Attendance Policies
  • Please arrive at least 10 minutes before class for check-in. Late arrivals may lose their spot to a stand-by member after 10 minutes.
  • If you are late, please check in with staff before entering the class.
  • Missing 3 classes will result in being dropped from the class.
  • If you can’t commit for the month, please let us know ASAP so we can offer your spot to someone else.
Stand-By Policies
  • Members without a spot in a recurring class may wait in a single-file line each hour. Staff may allow entry after 10 minutes if space is available, in the order you arrived. 
  • Standby is limited to one class per day, but if no one else is waiting, staff may allow you to join more classes if space allows.
  • Note: Standby is not guaranteed. To secure a spot, complete the Class Preference Survey during the third week of each month.

A class designed to improve stability and mobility through targeted movement training to enhance overall balance and coordination. (SEATED)

(2:10pm-3pm) Resistance Bands w /Julissa MW
This class uses resistance bands to enhance strength and agility with seated or standing exercises that provide effective, elastic resistance. (SEATED)

(3:10 pm-4pm) Latin Dance w /Julissa MW
This class features easy-to-follow Latin American dances like Salsa, Tango, and Merengue, offering a fun, energetic workout to lively Latin beats.

(10:10am-11am) Strength and Tone w/ Natalia TT
Build muscle and boost endurance in this low-impact, full-body workout designed for all fitness levels. This class focuses on resistance training and toning exercise and is perfect for improving stability, posture, and overall strength.

This class tones and strengthens the upper body, improves flexibility, balance, and core strength, all while offering a fun and dynamic way to move.

(10:10am-11am) Music History w/Jason MW
This class takes you on a journey through American music, from spirituals and jazz to rock, hip-hop, and more. We’ll explore how different cultures and moments in history shaped the sounds we know today and what they tell us about who we are.

(10:10am-11am) Smartphone: iPhone Essentials w/ Allie & Mimi MW
New to iPhones or just want a refresher? This class walks you through the basics—from making calls and sending texts to adjusting settings and using helpful apps. (Tech Bar)

(11:10am-12pm) Crochet w/Mary Beth MW
Learn a new yarn craft or add to your crochet skills—appropriate for all levels! This month’s teaching projects include a wind spinner and a frisbee for outdoor fun, and a storage basket and plastic bag holder for indoor organization. (HT Space)

(11:10am-12pm) Reimagining AI for Emotional Wellbeing w/ Jette & Alice MW
This series supports older adults in navigating AI’s rapid rise with clarity, confidence, and compassion. You’ll examine the psychology behind tech use and design, inspiring mindful application in life and relationships. With insight, reflection, and hands-on interaction, members will explore a healthy, ethical, and conscious relationship with AI. Both AI curious and skeptics are invited into a space of contemplation and creativity to shape our future. (Tech Bar)

Art History combines showcasing personal artwork with exploring art history, encouraging discussion, feedback, and connection through both creative expression and historical insights. (Art Room)

Join us for a drawing class where we’ll explore different techniques, improve your skills, and create unique artwork in a hands-on setting! (Art Room)

(1:10pm-2pm) Smartphone: Android Essentials w/Isaac MW
If you have a Samsung, Pixel, or any Android phone, this class is for you. Learn the basics of navigating your device, customizing it, and using everyday tools with confidence. (Tech Bar)

(2:10 pm-3pm) Intro to Comedy w/Jake MW
Intro to Comedy enhances social skills, creativity, and collaboration through playful, spontaneous exercises that encourage quick thinking and self-expression. (Art Room)

(2:10pm-3pm) Smartphone: Photography w/Amor MW
This class covers using your smartphone’s camera, managing storage, and sharing images, along with basic photography tips on composition and lighting. (Tech Bar)

(3:10pm-4pm) Computer Essentials w/Amor MW
Computer Essentials covers the fundamentals of how to use a computer, the internet, and email. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to navigate the Windows desktop, conduct web searches, find information online, send and receive emails, and practice basic internet safety! (Tech Bar)

(3:10 pm-4pm) Painter’s Palette w/Maya MW
This guided acrylic painting class teaches the basics of painting, allowing members to follow along and create a complete artwork to take home. (Art Room)

Members can explore the plant-people connection through creative, hands-on activities using fresh and dried plant materials in a fun, social, and educational setting. (HT Space)

(10:10am-11am) Drum It with MMM w/ Alan TT
This class offers self-expression and group coordination through playing various percussion instruments like hand drums, tambourines, and shakers. (Art Room)

Curious about Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, or TikTok? This beginner-friendly class will introduce you to the basics of today’s most popular social media platforms—what they are, how they work, and how to use them safely and confidently to connect, explore, and stay informed. (Tech Bar)

Learn the ins and outs of Instagram—from creating an account and posting photos to exploring content and following friends or interests. This beginner class will help you feel more confident using Instagram to stay connected and inspired. (Tech Bar)

Join Adrianna in this beginner-friendly iPad class, where you’ll learn the essentials of navigating your device, using key apps, and discovering helpful tips and tricks to make the most of your iPad. (Tech Bar)

(2:10pm-3pm) iPad Intermediate w/Allie TT
Ready to level up your iPad skills? This class builds on iPad Basics and is great for those who are already comfortable with the essentials. We’ll dive deeper into features like multitasking, settings, iCloud, organizing apps, and more—helping you get even more out of your device. Recommended after iPad Essentials, but open to anyone with prior experience. (Tech Bar)

Our Digital Art class introduces Procreate, a user-friendly software, to explore creative possibilities and develop digital art skills, with each session focusing on a new lesson to build your artistic proficiency. (Tech Bar)
