Older Americans Month: Communities of Strength

June 25, 2021
As we celebrate the nation’s 45th observance of Older Americans Month, GenSpace and the Administration for Community Living (ACL) are focused on the ongoing theme for 2021: Communities of Strength.

The ACL reminds us all that older adults have built resilience and strength over their lives through successes, failures, joys, and difficulties. This powerful message is reinforced by their core mission:

“The ACL was created around the fundamental principle that older adults and people of all ages with disabilities should be able to live where they choose, with the people they choose, and with the ability to participate fully in their communities. By funding services and supports provided by networks of community-based organizations, and with investments in research, education, and innovation, ACL helps make this principle a reality for millions of Americans.”

Here at GenSpace, we want to continue 2021 with the unique resilience and strength of older adults in mind, with reminders of the stories and contributions that help to support and inspire younger generations. GenSpace has a number of programs to help foster these reminders, located here.

Check out the Administration for Community Living (ACL)’s website for materials, resources, and activity ideas to help you, your community, or your organization observe this year’s “Communities of Strength” theme.
